Chapter 1: Haru’s past
The wind was pushing up against us and it was blowing hard. The sky was a strong gray, almost a coal black color. It seemed so frightening and I didn’t think that I would have to face up to this experience. Then the wind blew harder. I couldn’t see a thing. My eyes closed because of the dust that was flying around. Then I could hear a scream. “Haru!” The scream of my best friend, Lynn. I turned to see her fly across through the sky panicking and struggling to come down. “Lynn!”  I yelled and called after her. I ran in her direction. “Take my hand!” I exclaimed reaching out to her to pull back close to me. She was a year younger than me and she was very vulnerable. She threw out both arms trying to grab onto my hand. “I can’t reach!” She explained. I could see the fear in her eyes. She was scared I could tell. My eyes grew dark as she was sucked into the dark void. Her screams of terror rang in my ears. I grew furious. I closed my eyes. I opened them and they turned blood red. You could see the darkness and furious nature flowing through me. “I’ll kill you demons! I’ll destroy all of you! You took her away from me! I hate you! I’ll destroy you all!” I screamed in agony. I let hate rule me. It became my whole life. To hate the demons that took Lynn away from me. Soon enough the darkness left. All became peaceful once more. Everyone lived out there lives with happiness. I could never do such a thing. My world was filled with hate and despair. They took my best friend. One who was like a sister to me. The one who understood me. Things always seemed quiet in the beginning. Me, Lynn, and Hikaru. Three good friends on the verge of saving the world. Instead I lost a best friend. I was always so depressed. I had to raise my younger sister Kiki. She was only 10-years-old.I was only twelve-years-old. I wasn’t going to let my sister end up the same way Lynn did if those demons came back. So I’m prepared to protect her at all costs. My eyes used to be two different colors. My left eye green. My right eye was blue. After Lynn was gone and my eyes turned red, they permanently remained that way. I wore darker cloths. I looked menacing. No one really thought I was friendly so no one ever approached me. I liked it that way. I could be alone. The only person to ever come near me is Kiki and Hikaru. Then one day I became very frightened. I had seen a sign that would tell me that, the darkness, it is coming back.
